Kitchen Remodeling in Okolona, KY

Okolona is post-war ranch country — streets of 1950s and ’60s brick ranches and capes between the fairgrounds and Iroquois Park, with kitchens that were built small and walled off from the living room. These are workhorse family kitchens: prime candidates for opened sight lines, taller uppers, and islands where a dividing wall used to be.

Most Okolona ranches share a footprint move: the kitchen sits beside the living room behind a wall that may or may not be load-bearing. Opening it — with a properly sized beam where needed — and running one floor through both rooms is the project that changes these houses most, and it’s usually simpler than owners expect.
